Race Day started at 5:15 am when we needed to be in the lobby to get on the bus that would take us to the start line.

After reaching the start we took pictures by the vineyards and stretched. I was interview by Rolf Benirschke and then got my picture taken with him.

Then we were off and running/walking. Peggy crossed the finish line in 3 hours and 31 minutes and I crossed in 3 hours and 39 minutes. We both beat our times from San Antonio and we were both very happy and sore!!!

Quintessa Winery Tour

A group of us went to Napa to Quintessa Winery for a tour. The view was great and so was the wine!!!

Saturday started out with a team meeting so we all were on the same page for the day and also on race day.

Later that day we had to go and pick up our race packet. There was a few exhibitors and free wine!!

Then the day ended with a pasta party!! Lots of carbs!!!!

Team Wisconsin arrived in SFO on Friday 17 July at 11 AM. They made a few stops along the way to the Team Hotel in Sonoma. I met up with them around 4pm at the hotel. Was glad to be at the hotel after 6 hours of driving from Yosemite.

We had a team dinner and then we all headed to bed.

Today we will have a short run walk at 7:30 am. Some of us will head to a wine tasting and others will lounge by the pool.

We all have to pick up our race packets and then tonight we will have our pasta dinner.

Tomorrow is the big race and we are all excited to get that started.

TRAVELING TO NAPA

I left Tuesday 14 July to start my journey to Napa for the 1/2 Marathon. I decided to go to Yosemite National Park to see my cousin Ed. We haven't seen each other for years and this was the perfect opportunity.

It was a 4.5 hour drive from SFO to Yosemite. Once there I had no cell phone or internet. Such peace and quiet.

The park is beautiful and hot. High 90's during the day and 50's overnight. Pictured above is Half Dome.

Ed is a conductor for the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad which gives tourists a ride on a train pulled by a steam engine once used by the logging company up there. I took a moonlight ride with him on Wednesday. I got to ride up in the steam engine for 1/2 the trip. It was a great time.

I left Yosemite on Friday 17 July to travel to Sonoma to the Team Hotel.

Three Siblings Diagnosed With Crohn's Disease

I'm Mastin, and I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease 14 years ago when I was 12 years old. My younger sister Kaci was diagnosed 7 years ago at age 15, and my younger brother was diagnosed 6 months ago at age 12. This is a cause near and dear to all of our hearts.

We have had our ups and downs, and we have talked with and helped lots of others along the way. It truly is a lifestyle change in a sense, but with the help of the CCFA and everyone else who volunteers or makes a donation for research, we are constantly seeing improvements in the quality of our lives, which comes from new medicines and better nutritional information. They also provide support groups for those of us who need to talk to someone who understands what we go through each and every day.

Open your hearts and help with this worthy cause. Without the caring and loving people in this world, we would not have all of the resources we have today.

Moe's Southwest Grill in Pewaukee is helping us with our fundraising for Team Challenge and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation by donating 10% of all sales from 3pm to 9pm.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, unpredictable diseases that attack the digestive system. Many patients require hospitalization and surgery. These illnesses can cause severe complications, including colon cancer in patients with long-term disease. Some 1.4 million American adults and children suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, with as many as 150,000 under the age of 18. Most people develop the diseases between the ages of 15 and 35.

Team Challenge Recruiting Event - InStep 5K at State Fair Park - 2/1/09

As a Team Challenge Mentor one of our duties it to help recruit for the 2009 season. On February 1st InStep had a 5K at State Fair Park to raise money for Childhood Cancer. Tyler (our Endurance Manager for Team Challenge) and I went to the event to tell people about Team Challenge. I thought Sydney & Hailey (my younger daughters) would enjoy cheering the runners on as well as holding up Team Challenge signs so I brought them with me as well. It was a bit chilly but I decked the girls out in their Team Challenge gear and everyone noticed them - mission accomplished. Hopefully there will be a few people who join Team Challenge because they saw us or got a flyer. There is still time to sign up - let us know if you are interested. Afterwards, we went out for hot chocolate and bagels - YUM!

We are doing it AGAIN and this time we are going to Napa Valley!!!!

We are very happy to announce that we have signed up as Team Challenge Mentors for the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country 1/2 Marathon in July. We are looking forward to meeting new members of Team Challenge and helping them through training and fundraising. We learned alot from our participation in the San Antonio Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon in November of 2008 (visit our blog from that journey at http://ppechulis.blogspot.com/) and we are looking forward to helping others enjoy the experience at the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country 1/2 Marathon.

We are starting our fundraising letter writing campaign in hopes that we will meet our goal long before the deadline. Glad to have you along for the ride. Your support is greatly appreciated.
